Automatic Transmission Fluid Check
One of the most mechanically complex components of your vehicle’s drive train is the automatic transmission. It converts the high revolutions of the engine into the more useful speeds needed at the wheel.
And the transmission fluid
keeps it all running smoothly
When you check your oil, check the transmission fluid levels too. Your engine should be running (and warmed up) and you transmission should be in Park. Of course, your vehicle needs to be sitting on a level surface for an accurate reading.
The dipstick works just like the oil dipstick with markings to indicate the right range. Often you’ll find two ranges - one for when the transmission is cold and another for when it’s been driven for a little bit and is warm.
Use the right automatic transmission fluid
If you need to add fluid, be sure you use the right type of fluid for your vehicle (check your owner’s manual) and never over fill.
Your owners manual will suggest a regular flushing and replacement of the transmission fluid interval, and some vehicles also have a transmission fluid filter than needs to be changed at that time. We’ll be happy to help you by taking care of that when the time comes up.
Simple regular service like changing your transmission fluid when it comes due, will help you get many more miles from your vehicle and save you money. Here at Tires Tires Tires, we’re experts at squeezing those extra miles out your vehicle, and every extra mile you get is like putting another dollar in your pocket.
