Timing Belt - Replace

The timing belt is a small cogged belt that keeps the internal workings of the engine in sync. The movement of the cylinders, valves and the timing of the spark plugs firing all have to work in precise harmony.

Not all engines use timing belts (some use a chain that rarely needs replacement), but a significant number do and this is a part that must be replaced on a regularly scheduled basis. The timing belt replace schedule is determined by the manufacturer and could be anywhere from every 60,000 miles to every 150,000 miles.

Breaking a timing belt is a major “oh-oh.”

You are stranded the moment it breaks, and in some engines it’s possible that major internal damage can occur.

At Tires Tires Tires, we know that simple regular maintenance will allow you to get an extra 50, 100 or even 150 thousand miles or more from your current vehicle, which will save you money. If you have a question about when you need a timing belt replace, come in and we’ll explain everything you need to know.
