Auto Tune Up
Your fathers or grandfather’s car required an auto tune up every 12 thousand miles. During that time, the mechanic would replace spark plugs and the car distributor, and adjust the “points”. He probably also worked on the carburetor to make sure the gas mixture was just right.
Technology to the rescue
Today’s cars still use spark plugs, but they last a lot longer because the rest of the electronics used to generate the spark is so much more efficient and makes a hotter spark that helps clean the deposits that used the “foul” the older plugs. In addition, carburetors have been replaced by computerized fuel injection systems that are much more accurate.
The whole system can work flawlessly for as much as 100,000 miles instead of the old 12 thousand.
Getting more miles and saving money
We talk about it all the time. Getting more miles from your current vehicle and saving money over buying a new one. If you’re looking to get 50, 100, or even 150 thousand miles or more from your vehicle, you’ll likely need to perform an auto tune up a couple of times.
Getting back performance and fuel efficiency
The good news is that your gas mileage will likely go up after an auto tune up and you’ll likely notice your vehicle runs more powerfully and smoothly. The reason is that you’ll have refreshed many of the parts that generate and control the spark that fires the engine and the fuel mixture that spark is setting off.
If you’re ready to squeeze those extra miles out of your vehicle and make it run like new again, ask us if it’s time for an automotive tune up for your vehicle. It will save you money.
