The Early Years of Yokohama Tires
Yokohama Tires started as a joint venture between Uniroyal and the Yokohama Cable Company in 1917. They started manufacturing tires, just 2 years later. By the 1970’s, Yokohama was well established with manufacturing plants and research facilities throughout much of Southeast Asia. They also began selling tires in North America.
They manufacture not just tires, but many other automotive products - including many sealants and rubberized parts.
Motorsports Involvement
As part of their tire research program, Yokohama has been heavily involved in motorsports at both the professional and amateur level, and are particularly involved with the LeMans series of 24 hour races because they feel they push their tires to the limits of performance.
Going Green
Yokohama is also a leader in green technology, with a number of their facilities certified as Zero Emissions.
